Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo Automobiles is an Italian luxury car manufacturer founded in 1910 as A.L.F.A., an acronym for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili.
The brand is known for sport-oriented vehicles and has been involved in car racing, successfully competing in Grand Prix motor racing, Formula One, sportscar racing, touring car racing, and rallies.
During WWII the Alfa factory, which had been converted to produce aircraft engines, was bombed and struggled to return to profitability after the war. In preference to larger luxury vehicles, smaller, mass-produced vehicles began to be produced beginning with the 1954 model year introducing the Giulietta series of saloons/sedans, coupes and open two-seaters.
