At any My Key Machine, if a customer requires a replacement car key, they simply select the car key option on the screen and enter their vehicle's registration number. A unique QR code is generated and shown on the screen, which takes them directly to the keys and services available for their vehicle.

By scanning the QR code, with their smartphone, customers are automatically taken to the exact place on Keynow.com where they can complete their order by selecting the key type and the pairing service that suits their budget and convenience.

Why is getting new car keys not as simple as getting house keys cut?

For more than 20 years, all new cars have been supplied with an immobiliser by law. As a result, all replacement car or van keys have to be programmed to pair them to the vehicle for them to work. If you simply get a copy of your car key cut and don’t have it programmed, you have to physically insert the key blade into the lock to unlock or lock the doors and it will certainly not allow the engine to start. Therefore all replacement keys purchased do need to be specifically programmed to your vehicle.

	You Come to Us  A key is cut and sent by secure post to a local, participating Timpson store. When contacted by the store to come and collect the new key, while the customer waits, a trained Timpson technician programs and pairs the key to the vehicle.
	We Come To You Our most comprehensive service. One of our fully trained in-house KeyNOW technicians hand delivers the new key, pairs it with the car and fully tests it at a location, date and time convenient to the customer.
